FAQs

The Baby Box is as a safe, comfortable and convenient place for infants to sleep, similar to a bassinet or Moses Basket. The Baby Box was originally developed in Finland in the 1930s, and it has helped that country achieve one of the world's lowest infant mortality rates.
Yes, absolutely. The Baby Box conforms to BS EN 1130, the International Gold Standard for Crib & Cradle Safety. The Baby Box from thebabybox.com is the only Finnish Baby Box on the market that conforms to this standard. All of our Baby Boxes and Mattresses are manufactured in the UK.
We ask that you stop using the Baby Box once your child is able to sit up, kneel or pull themselves up. We would also ask you to keep the Baby Box away from open flames and other sources of strong heat. Do not get it wet, and never use the lid while baby is inside. The lid is for storage purposes only. It is recommended that you only use the mattress supplied with the Baby Box. If a different mattress is to be used, please ensure that the distance from the top of the mattress to the top of the Baby Box is at least 200mm. In addition, never lift the Baby Box with baby inside once they exceed 15 lbs, and please do not transport the Baby Box while the baby is inside if any tripping hazards are present in the room. Always keep the Baby Box on the floor or on a sturdy wide surface.
All of our mattresses are Foam Pads covered with a removable machine washable Corovin Cover. Our Mattresses are made in the UK and conform to the requirements of BS 1877 Part 10 for safety and performance, and BS 7177 for flammability. They measure 68cm x 42cm x 4cm.
The ideal spot for the box is on the floor right next to the parents' bed. Many parents keep their Baby Box in the living room or dining room so that their baby can nap or relax close by during the day. Once the baby has outgrown the box, it can be re-purposed as a keepsake box or storage box for baby clothes. It does not go to waste after the baby has outgrown it.
All of our clothing, blankets and muslin cloths are 100% Super Soft Cotton.
All of our Clothing items are aged 0-3 Months (Up to 13lbs 4oz). This will give a newborn the maximum amount of time to enjoy the clothes. We've made our Hooded Bathrobe size 6-12 Months. Newborns aren't quite big enough for Bathrobes yet so by making it larger it can be enjoyed when Baby is a little bigger.
Delivery is FREE in the UK and Ireland. Flat Rate Shipping is offered for the rest of the World based on region.
Yes we do. At thebabybox.com we believe all babies should be given the best possible start in life regardless of where they are born. That is why we work closely with UNICEF Worldwide and distribute 10 Vaccination kits to the Third World for every Baby Box sold. Each of these Vaccination Kits contain 3 Vaccines - one for Measles, one for Polio and one for Tetanus. These Kits will ensure that 10 children are protected against these potentially fatal diseases.
